How long have you been in fitness and can you describe your journey?

The thing about my fitness journey is that it was born from a place of necessity rather than discovery. Despite starting golf at four with aspirations to reach the highest level, it was only after encountering injuries and being belittled for my weight that I truly realized and understood the role of fitness and its impact on a person’s quality of life. Like many others this epiphany sparked a drive for change. Personally, this meant developing a relentless knowledge-seeking personality who wanted nothing more in life than to master all facets of training, nutrition, and recovery, turning a necessity into a deep-seated passion for the science of human health. So driven by these challenges, I committed to not only improving myself but also understanding and appreciating the logical and synergistic nature of these processes. This led me later to pursue my bachelor’s and master’s in exercise physiology and nutrition, embracing the joy of turning my personal struggles into a professional pathway. However, even with all that being said, my journey has never only been about my own personal transformation—it’s always been about bringing joy, knowledge, and empowerment to others as they embark on their own fitness paths. I’m not just learning and teaching for my degree; I’m living it every day and sharing this joy with others.

What made you want to get into fitness coaching?

My venture into fitness coaching was inspired by my own experiences and the realization that my struggles/intangibles that couldn’t be read or learned in a book provided valuable lessons that could truly benefit others. Driven by a desire to prevent others from facing the same setbacks, I immersed myself in the study of the human body and its response to physical activity. My journey, filled with both challenges and triumphs, has made me keenly aware of the transformative power of fitness. It is this genuine love for helping others discover this and their potential that fuels my coaching philosophy.

What is a success or highlight in your fitness career that you’re particularly proud of?

The most defining moment of my career was overcoming my injuries. This was not just a physical triumph but a profound mental battle against the darkest and toughest times of my life. Despite numerous doctors doubting my recovery, my determination never wavered. I learned extensively and transformed these challenges into strengths through willpower, determination and the odd David Goggins podcast. This victory profoundly shaped my approach to fitness
coaching, enabling me to empathize deeply with others’ struggles.

However, despite being a defining moment, the core of my career highlights isn’t just about a singular entity such as overcoming personal obstacles or helping a client reach a certain goal; it’s about how these experiences have allowed me to connect with others, something I truly pride myself in. My ability to share not only expertise but also personal insights has drawn people to me, seeking guidance and support. This natural gravitation towards helping others has been both a privilege and a driving force in my career and can be by far what I am most proud of.

What are some things that you like to do in your spare time?

During my free time, being a classic extrovert, I love meeting new people, hearing about their stories, and genuinely learning about them. I also love to geek out on the latest fitness trends, studies and supplements, including being a protein powder connoisseur. I am a huge Miami Heat fan and yes, post Lebron era. I’ll try not to mention the Broncos as it’s internally painful to mention. Lastly, technology, computers, hardware, AI, and anything tech-related will spark my inner nerd. Additionally, I cannot confirm or deny the love I have for a good Spielberg film, Breaking Bad binge or K drama. Also, since I golfed, graduated and Ice bathed with Jamar and Burrow at LSU, if you’re a Bama fan you should not disclose that information.

What are some of your special skill sets and things that your clients should
know about you?

You could call me a golfer, competing at all levels including County, National, AJGA, US AM and finally D1. From being taught by Mickelson’s and Molinari’s short game and swing coaches respectively to having Jim Mclean down in Doral as my anchor, if there is one thing in this world that I know and will always, it is golf mechanics. I used to be a “feel” golfer but became a technical/ “swing/angle” based golfer, which translates for those that just want to break 80, any biomechanical advantages you want that can be achieved through training, I know. Moreover, if you want to improve your golf swing speed and accuracy, play without pain (yes, lower back),
be able to generate the most power through range of motion and develop the foundational strength required in golf. I am your guy. Any therapeutic modalities, and techniques to decrease the risk of injury and pain I have researched, studied and mastered, and thanks to the amazing team at IMG and LSU, I am well-versed in designing, planning and implementing Strength and Conditioning programs for performance. Finally, for those who want to reach a certain physique or look for a wedding, photoshoot, or event, my knowledge that has been applied to both me and others of all ages, I can be an assistance there.

I’ll close on the fact that I’m not the biggest or the smartest guy in the room and I will never try to be. What I am is someone who will always give you my all and will always do my best to understand you as a person, not only in the gym. From personal struggles such as weight, injuries or mental struggles I’ve bore it all, so if there is one person in the world that can understand where you’re coming from it will be me.
